Broadditch Hauntfest 2015 Trip

On 2nd November, our university has organised a trip to the Broadditch Hauntfest 2015 which is located in Kent.

Leaflet:

There are six haunted house in total and they all have very different themes. The first one is 'MassAcre' which is a corn maze idea. The second one is the 'Spooky Castle' which you can experience walking along the uncanny and eerie corridors of the castle. The third one is 'The Edge' which involves vampires and decorated with decaying walls, etc. The forth one is 'Thirteen' which is about fears of clowns and darkest nightmares and it has included mirror maze which make u feel anxious. The fifth one is 'Monster Madness' which is a haunted house design for kids. The last one is the 'Biometrix' which is about something went wrong with the scientists research advancements in human gene technology. 'Biometrix' won the Best Halloween Scare Attraction at the SCAR Awards in 2015.

During the day, we have arrived there and on below are some photos taken when we arrived.
We have a talk with the organisers and the team who worked for the haunted house and also with the owners of the farm.
After that, we have get on a truck and and travel to the farm where the organisers have decorated with skeleton, skulls and spiders, etc.
During the trip, we have visited the backstage of the Broadditch Hauntfest such as the dressing room where the actors getting their make-up done by the make-up artists and getting ready to dress their costumes.
On below is a file where they have listed the characters profile and the looks.
During evening time, we have also experienced to go inside the haunted houses while without the actors.
'Biometrix'
'Spooky Castle'
'Thirteen'
You can see how dark the haunted house is inside and you can't see what is in front of you. I remembered when we went to 'Thirteen', there is a mirror maze and it is very dark. We went inside with groups and then when we came to the mirror maze, we got lost and got separated into two groups of people, but the point is there wasn't any actors yet and so it will be worse when the actors are in the haunted house to scare us.

'MassAcre'
Compare to the day time photo, it looks really different and the dark has created the spooky and scary atmosphere.
'The Edge'

Later on, when the actors are ready and we have went inside the haunted houses again but this time the actors were inside the haunted house to scare us.
The Twins
The photo on above shows a character which has got horns on her head and she has got stitches on her mouth. The stitches are created on a mask she was wearing. One of her eye is white and the other eye is in black. I think the actor is amazing as she walked with her hands like climbing on the floor and also she blinked her eye very slowly which helps to transform a more realistic character. This is one of the example how actions affect how the character is performed to people and is very important especially in performing eerie and scary character.
Selfie with the bat inspired character
He was wearing fake fangs and he has got sharp pointy ears like a bat. I like how it links to our human hybrid character by using the elements of a nature inspired creature and transform into a human hybrid.
The Clowns!
I don't know why I found the photo on above looks very cute when the clowns are together. The actors are very professional as they changed their voice when they speak as well. The clown at the front has got quite high pitched voice and it makes the character more eerie. The clowns have wore sharp pointy teeth as well and it helps to make the look more evil and creepy.
For the photo on above, I think the idea of the character is a magician and I like how he wear different contact lens on the eyes. When you look closer, one of them is a red and black swirl pattern while the other eye is a normal greenish color contact lens. His teeth has got a bit black as well maybe to show the decaying teeth.

Through this trip, I have experienced going and looking into the backstage of the Broadditch Hauntfest. I have also looked closer to see the details on the make-up looks and styles of the actors and find inspirations for my human hybrid project.
