'Werewolf of London' was a 1935 film and is the first Universal horror film about werewolves. The film is about Dr. Glendon who was starred by Henry Hull, becomes a werewolf creature. Because Henry Hull refused to do the makeup for a long period of time, Jack Pierce, the make-up artist and designer has redesigned the makeup for the werewolf character. But in 1941, in the film 'The Wolf Man', Jack Pierce has used his original design of the werewolf character on Lon Chaney Jr. On below shows the version of Lon Chaney Jr's werewolf design from the film 'The Wolf Man' in 1941.

In 'Werewolf of London', Dr Glendon's werewolf character has got fake teeth on and I like how there are creases around his mouth which refers to the werewolves features. The brows are cover up but they have stuck some facial hair to create the brow shapes and also it links to the hair texture of the werewolves. There are also creases on his nose and near the brows as well. His ears were being reshaped as well to refer to the ears of the werewolves. There is also contouring under the cheekbones forming an angle to reshape the face of the character. The costume of Dr Glendon is like what human normally wears, coat, suits, etc as he is a human who then transformed into a werewolves human like creature. I like how Jack Pierce has considered sticking some hair on the forehead and change the hair line of Henry Hull to transform into a werewolf. For the hands, it is also hairy and has got sharp fake nails on as well.
Compare to the version of Henry Hull, Lon Chaney Jr's werewolf character is more dramatic.and there are more texture on his face as Lon Chaney's face was covered with more hair. For the makeup on the hands, it is quite similar as both of them also looks hairy and have got fake nails on. The fake teeth from both version is similar as well. From the version of Lon Chaney's werewolf, the nose is more realistic and close to the feature of the werewolves' nose. The sharp pointy ears has gone from Lon Chaney's version and I think is because the hair nearly covers up the ears so if there is sharp pointy ears, it will not be seen as clearly. The costume quite similar as well as Lon Chaney wears shirts, etc.

Jack Dawn is the make-up artist for the lion character for the MGM production of 'The Wizard of Oz' and he was an American make-up artist. He has worked on many films and in 'The Wizard of Oz', he has done the makeup for the lion, the scarecrow and the tin man. Although the lion character is meant to be an non human character, but I found it relevant to our human hybrid project as it shows how the makeup artist transform a human to a lion using the features of the animals.
The Cowardly Lion is a wild lion in 'The Wizard of Oz' and he can speak like human because he comes from a fairy region. The makeup of the cowardly and gentle Lion is one of the first primary uses of foamed latex techniques for the makeup. You can see the photo on above, he has got foamed latex around the mouth to create the shape around the lion's mouth and I think it is well thought out as it is just applied on top of the mouth and so the actor can speak easily. The shape of the nose has changed as well to refer to the lion's nose. I like how his head got the lion's ears and also I think is clever that they used curly hair around the head to present a human like lion and the mane on the lion. There are sensory whiskers near the nose and the tip of his nose is painted in black. The actor's eyebrows has been covered up and the makeup artist has stuck bits of hair. The skin tone of the face is more likely to be a human skin tone and for the costume, he wears a hairy body suit.

Disney's Stories:
In Disney stories, there are several animal human hybrid ideas of characters. On below I have listed a few characters.

Little Mermaid (1989)
Ariel

The character of Ariel in 'Little Mermaid' is an example of a half human, half fish creatures human hybrid. The shells on her chest reference to the sea and the rather than having two legs like human, Ariel has got the fish tail which present the ideas of the mermaid.
Ursula

In 'Little Mermaid', there is also a character which is inspired by a creature living in the sea which her name is called Ursula. She is a sea witch character and is a half human and half octopus. She has got light lavender skin, white hair shows evilness and also human form, her body shape is similar to an octopus and there are six black color octopus like tentacles. Her costumes and appearances makes her an evil and eerie character. I think maybe the blue eye shadow represents she is a sea creature.

Mickey Mouse (1928)

Mickey Mouse from Disney's character is a half human and half mouse character. The way the character can speak and also stand like a human. Mickey Mouse has got the features of the mouse as he has got the tails, the shape of the ears, nose and mouth. He has got the features of human as he wears shoes, shorts and gloves and has got human eyes and skin tone on his face.
