The Human Veins reminds me of the patterns of the flytraps roots and for my silicone pieces, I want to do the roots patterns on the body as it is one of the important element for the flytraps. The roots are used to absorb water and minerals which keeps the flytraps to stay alive. By using this element, I want to replace the idea of the human veins which means that rather than functioning the body with human veins, I want my character to function with flytraps roots. Human veins are used to transport blood to the heart and they are blood vessels. It takes an important role for the circularity system in human body and I found it similar to the flytraps roots system as they both helps to function the body/plants.
Veins are close to the skin and in order to show the roots patterns on the skin, I want to place the patterns of the roots on the skin so you can see the patterns of the roots, but rather than using black/dark brown color roots which the flytraps have, I want a color which is similar to human skin tone. So I have decided to use brown tones for the roots so it will be a bit darker than my model's original skin tone. This also helps me to create the effects that it looks like the roots are coming out and going through from the skin.
On below, I have created 3 designs for my silicone pieces and I have experimented with the composition of the designs.
For my first design, I have placed the root patterns on the neck and it looks like the roots are growing upwards towards the face. I like this design but I think it will cover up the green color which I did on my final makeup design to emphasis the bone structure on the neck and collar bone. On below shows my final makeup design.
Design 2:
For my second design, I have placed one pieces on the right upper arm and then two on the left arm (one on the upper arm and one on the forearm). The two pieces on the left arm, I want to create the effect that the roots are going through the skin and then come back up again. I like the ideas of how the position of the roots goes on the left arm as I have placed the roots pieces (upper arm) on a different directions which shows that the roots grow in different directions and didn't follow a specific directions.
Design 3:
For my third design, I have placed one pieces on the right forearm, one on the shoulder area and the other one between the neck and the face. On the shoulder and neck area ones, I want to create the effect that the roots goes through the skin and come back up from the skin again. I like the way how the roots have gone a bit on the face as well.
Chosen design: Design 3
I have chosen design 3 for my final design because I like the way how the roots on the right forearm goes and I think when I take the photos for my character, you can see the patterns of the roots easily. I like the way how the roots has gone a bit on the face and on the shoulder as well and I think it helps to show a more eerie character for my hybrid design.
